Join Ars Lyrica artist Wes Miller for a fanfare introduction of his instrument. Time travel from the 16th century to modern day, following the trajectory of the trumpet. The modern, valved trumpet was preceded by its Baroque counterpart, the natural trumpet, which audiences heard during “Dancing at the Palais” in September of 2019. Learn more about why the early trumpet is “natural” as well as the physical and technical differences between natural and modern trumpet.
