Bass-baritone

Timothy Jones is one of the leading bass-baritones of his generation. Associate Professor of Voice at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, he is a champion of opera, the concert stage, chamber music, solo recitals, and premières of modern compositions. Recent appearances include programs with the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, the Saginaw Bay Orchestra, the Cheyenne Symphony, the Cactus Pear Music Festival, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and in Gounod’s Romeo & Juliette with the San Antonio Lyric Opera. On the operatic stage, he has appeared in productions with the Michigan Opera Theater, the Lake George Opera Festival, Opera Idaho, Opera Pacific, Opera Birmingham, the Shreveport Opera, Opera Southwest, the Pensacola Opera and the San Antonio Lyric Opera. Jones has also appeared with the symphony orchestras of Cleveland, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Charlotte, Portland, Shreveport, Colorado Springs, Jacksonville, Laredo, San Antonio, and Lansing. He made his New York debut as a recitalist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in February 2000. Widely acclaimed for his intelligent musicianship and engaging personality, Jones was recently hailed by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for a voice that is “flowing, flexible, but always with a gorgeous timbre.“
